Hawaiian Teacher Blog Hop (freebie)

Aloha, everyone!  I think most of you are still enjoying your summer break.  Those of in Hawaii are going back to school TODAY!  Yikes!  Where did that summer go?

I'm super excited to join up with some of my favorite Hawaiian bloggers for some goodies for you guys.

First up, I have a freebie that is a little more geared to Hawaiian teachers.  In Hawaii, we have General Learner Outcomes (GLO) for our students.  Well, I got to looking at the GLO posters in my classroom and they were faded and old.  I can't have any of that so I made these, which are much cuter if I do say so myself.  Hawaiian teachers can click on the picture to download them for free.

I didn't want to leave all of you other teachers out, so I'm making my Aloha! Sight Word game a FREEBIE for today only.

And because I know many of you are starting to thinking about classroom decorating and getting back to school, I'm putting my whole TpT store on sale for 2 days!

If you're just starting here, you'll want to go visit my friend Nicole at Teaching With Style!

If you've already visited Nicole, you're next stop is my friend Corinna at Surfin' Through Second!

If you're still on summer break, I hope you are enjoying every second of it and that you feel bad for us poor Hawaiian teachers back at school.  ;)

Classroom Makeover (the beginning)

School starts tomorrow for Hawaiian teachers, so it's time to get back in the swing of things.  I've been up to my room a few times to start working.  I got to move into a new room this year (yeah for no more sharing!).

But that means, I walked into this.  When I opened the door, I found this.  Not looking too bad!

But then I looked at the other side of the room and found all this piled up!  That's a lot of stuff that needs to be organized and put somewhere.

I haven't gotten much done yet, but I did at least get my bulletin boards covered.  I absolutely adore these borders.  I used flat black sheets from Wal-Mart.  Best part was that they were only $4.61 each.  I love hanging charts and student work on black backgrounds.

I didn't get much done after I hung borders, because I have a billion books.  Seriously, it feels like a billion.  What in the world, will I do with all of these books?  There's WAY too many.  I pretty much left my room just like this today.  I gotta get really busy tomorrow and figure out something to do with these books.  Any suggestions?

Make sure you check back tomorrow, because I'm joining in a Hawaiian blog hop with freebies.

We have a winner!

I'm so sorry it took me a few extra days to come back and post my Draw Write Now giveaway winner.
I have to admit, but I've been enjoying all Hawaii has to offer this past weekend.

Love it here!

Draw Write Now Giveaway!

I'm super excited to host this giveaway!  I love doing guided drawing with my students.  I try to do one per week.  You can see how my class drew the Mo Willems pigeon {here}.  I've noticed that a lot of my special ed students have such a hard time drawing.  I don't know if it's a fine motor deficit or something else, but this seems to be a common struggle with my students.

These Draw Write Now books are AMAZING!  The whole set has 8 different books that cover some really great topics: weather, the Statue of Liberty, transportation, story book characters, rainforest animals, and so many more!  Almost every theme and topic is covered in these books.

The drawings are super easy for kids to follow.  I also love how they've included a version in color with more details that can help sparks your students' imagination.  There's also a short writing sample.

Ever since my set arrived last week, all of the neighborhood girls have been drawing up a storm.  My 7-year-old daughter has drawn almost every picture from the Native Americans and Pilgrims section in Book Three.  Even my 14-year-old has gotten into the drawing!

Barker Creek has been super gracious and is giving away a whole set of Draw Write Now books to one of you lucky followers!

And to go along with this giveaway, I'm donating my All About Reindeer Mini-Unit.  Think of it like  Christmas in July!  :)

I even made a little freebie practice page!  There is one page that goes along with my reindeer unit and one that can be used for any guided drawing activity.  Click on the picture to download your copy.

This giveaway will end at midnight on July 4th.  I'll announce a winner on July 5th.
