Organizing Your Computer Files Linky Party

One of my goals this summer was to somehow get control of the TONS and TONS of stuff I have downloaded from blogs.  I have gone crazy downloading things to the point that I'm not even sure what I have anymore!  Oh my, it's bad.  Does your document folder look like this?

I have 773 items in my document folder that are not organized.  The sad thing is that I have attempted to organize so I still have tons of other things in folders.  I'm sure I have thousands of files on this computer that I haven't seen in forever (like all that horrible grad school work....can I delete that yet?).

Today I decided that since it's storming and raining I was going to TACKLE this problem.  So I started making folders and moving files into folders.  Right now, I have this going on.

I'm not sure if this is much better.  I'll be here all day organizing these files.  I need help!!!  So I'm hosting my first Linky Party (I hope I did it correctly).  Join up and give me some help on how you organize your files.

  1. DROPBOX is the best! You can organize all your files into folders but they are available to you on any computer by going to dropbox.com and signing in! It is wonderful! I find cool stuff at home on my laptop and save it to DROPBOX then I get to work and print it.... saves my personal ink for color projects (no color printing at school)! Hope this helps!

  3. Mrs. Voss - Can you create folders in dropbox, too?

Tammy - I have a Mac, so I only know how to do it on Macs. I think there's a way to do it on a PC but I don't know how. If you have a Mac, click on command, shift & 4 at the same time. A little cross thing will come up. Then click and drag what part of the screen you want to take a picture of. You'll here a little camera noise and the picture will automatically be on your desktop. It's my FAVORITE tool on my Mac. I can take a picture of anything as long as it's on my screen!

  4. It's crazy how much stuff I end up with on my desktop, lol! If only I took the time to save it to the right folder to begin with, I think I'd save myself a lot of time! :-) Good job on tackling that job!

  6. Well, I'm happy to report that I spent ALL day yesterday organizing files. I have over 100 folders, but everything is the folder it belongs in. I had stuff that I had totally forgot about that I want to use this year. Now I need to get busy printing and laminating!!

  9. I've been working on the exact same thing, organizing takes so much time and I start one way and then question if it's the best way... so I googled it and found this blog in the results. I am beyond thrilled to "follow" you on your journey and this is the best teaching site!

  10. I think you should sort your files according to the activities they are related into and label them with a keyword that would describe them. You should not sort them alphabetically as it would definitely give you a headache on finding a specific file.

  11. If you are skeptical about all the online sources of computer technology especially the technical forums you are completely wrong. Online resources are something that is really helping out everyone in this technologically advanced era. blog de empreendedorismo

  12. The computers are normally stacked with games however separated from that, we can stack or introduce the games without anyone else as well. The new game programming that are being made ordinary are making everybody scramble for these and gather however many as could be allowed. The purpose behind this rage for computer games is that these are not difficult to benefit and are truly sensible as well. Free pc games

  14. Since Amazon Prime Video does not support chromecast, you have to rely on either the Fire TV or a native app on the smart TV platform at amazon.com/mytv to watch Prime Video on your TV. Most of the smart TVs have the Amazon Prime Video app in their app store. Search/Browse through the apps available for your TV and install the Amazon Prime Video app.at www.amazon.com/myt
